It is recommend that you use one of the four main network providers in South Africa: MTN, Vodacom, or Cell C or Telkom. All the other SIM providers piggyback off one of those three main providers, which sometimes results in disrupted streaming.
Please avoid using piggyback network providers as you are likely to experience disrupted streaming during busy network periods such as weekends. The following are piggyback providers:
Afrihost AirMobile
Boxercom
Capitec Connect
C-Connect
Clientèle Mobile
Crave Connect
FNB Connect
Hello Mobile
Me&You Mobile
Melon Mobile
Mr Price Mobile
Old Mutual Connect
Pick n Pay Mobile
Purple Mobile
Shoprite K’nect Mobile
Smart Mobile
Spar Mobile
Spot Mobile
Standard Bank Connect
Stadio Connect
TFG Connect
Trace Mobile
Uconnect Mobile
Which provider is the best for me?
Please plug your grounds postcode into the following coverage maps.
Bear in mind that networks can overestimate their signal coverage, particularly when it comes to data upload speeds (essential for streaming). Anecdotal evidence from club members can help you identify the best network for your ground's location.
What plan should I get?
It is recommend that you purchase a SIM only plan on a rolling contract so you can cancel at short notice, and in particular for when the season finishes. You won’t want to continue paying in the off season.
Depending on how many games a week you stream will determine the data plan you need. If you don't opt for Unlimited Data, be aware that a 7 hour stream uses approximately 6GB of data. So, one stream per week requires approximately 30GB per month.
Test Your Kit
We strongly recommend testing your kit to ensure your SIM works with your setup. Please read this article for information on how to check your encoder is showing online: How to Test Your Kit Outside of Matchday
