If the encoder mount on your FrogBox kit has snapped and part of the mount remains stuck inside the encoder, don't attempt to force it out. Instead, contact the FrogBox Support Team for assistance.
Once support has confirmed the issue, you'll be sent a replacement aluminium block. This guide explains how to install the replacement and get your encoder ready to mount back onto the tripod.

Before You Begin
Tools Required
- Small Phillips head screwdriver
- Small flathead screwdriver (optional)
Important
Before starting, ensure the encoder is completely powered off and disconnected from any power source.
Step 1: Remove the Encoder Back Plate
- Turn the encoder upside down.
- Using a small Phillips head screwdriver, remove the four screws located in the corners of the encoder base.
- Once the screws have been removed, the casing may separate naturally.
If the casing does not separate:
- Carefully insert a small flathead screwdriver between the casing and back plate.
- Gently lever the back plate away from the encoder.
Take care not to damage any internal components during this step.
Step 2: Remove the Existing Aluminium Block
Once the back plate has been removed, you'll see the broken spigot still threaded into the aluminium mounting block attached to the plate.
- Locate the four screws securing the aluminium block to the back plate.
- Using the Phillips head screwdriver, remove all four screws.
- Separate the aluminium block from the back plate.
Step 3: Install the Replacement Aluminium Block
- Position the new aluminium block onto the back plate.
- Align the screw holes.
- Reinstall and tighten the four mounting screws.
Ensure the block is fitted securely before proceeding.
Step 4: Reassemble the Encoder
- Align the back plate with the encoder housing.
- Press the back plate back into position.
- Reinstall the four corner screws removed earlier.
- Tighten all screws evenly until secure.
Avoid overtightening the screws.
Step 5: Remount the Encoder
Once reassembled, the encoder is ready to be mounted back onto the tripod.
Check that the mount is secure before transporting or operating the system.
